"103 Years Old"

I stood on that hollowed ground and laid a wreath 3 years ago today.

I'm just lifting a beer in their honour.

We Will Remember Them!

I attended the 100th Anniversary event as well. The turnout was huge. As your pics show, it was a wonderful spring day with 20 degree temps;quite a contrast with the day of the battle when the troops were contending with sleet and snow on top of the misery of the fighting.

If you happened to see the two guys in the Canada Post Corporation uniforms, that was us.

I would have loved to met up with you to say hello.

We walked around in the crowd up until the ceremony was starting, then we had to go on the other side of the fenced in area.

I was baking alive in that uniform, quite the contrast indeed.

It was an interesting day, I sat in the tent for a while with the Major General of the French Military. We communicated a little as my French is pretty bad. I should be better as I have done 19 trips to the Battlefields.

Later I met up with Prince Charles, William and Harry as I was speaking to Justin and Governor General David Johnston.

It was one of the highlights of my life to be they're laying a wreath.

We where also in Mons, Belgium for Nov 11, 2018 placing a wreath at 11:00 hrs at the St. Symphorian Cemetery.

Mons as you know is where WW1 ended for Canada.

As I recall, the crowd count was 20,000. We spoke to a lot of people thru the day and saw a good cross section of Canadian attendees. It was a long day involving driving our rental car from our B&B at Armentieres to the shuttle bus site in Lens and then waiting for the return shuttle after the event.

A long day also for us as we where staying in Albert, France.

I would not have missed that for anything.
