My son just brought home a video game for the PS4 called battlefield one. It appears to take place during WW1 and I have to say it looks fantastic. As a player, you take a mark v tank through Cambrai as well as other battles.

In any event, in the game (which appears very realistic) there is a very odd rifle mount for the Lee Enfield No1MkIII here.

It appears to be a brass base plate of sorts...Does anyone know if such a mount was used? I've never seen an Enfield with one. (Looks as though the King screw is the mount location.)

Been playing it today, you cant expect it to be a real representation of the great war. But if you can get past that and enjoy that a mainstream developer made a WWI shooter that is fantastic so far you'll enjoy it.

Yeah I am really enjoying the game. It is just the real enough in my opinion. No need to sit in a cold wet hole in the ground and fight off disentery and trench foot, that wouldn't be very fun.

I watched a few cut scenes on Youtube the other day and it looks fantastic. I also watched a couple of game play videos and watching someone playing an Austrian WW1 soldier in the Alps, armed with a Martini henry and a Lee Enfield SMLE kind of turned me away from the game.

I have played the game "Verdun" that is on Steam. It has been in constant development for a while and they have since added British / Canadian soldiers to the game as playable. No crazy weapon mods, bunny hopping, or auto healing in this game. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a close to realistic representation of the Great War as a FPS.

The weapons in the game have an Amazing mix of common Military arms for the period and then they have alot of the experimental/uncommon weapons. Really neat stuff, with more promised in the DLC. France and Russia being added with a few goodies from them. It is has campaigns from all periods of the war, from Gallipoli to the final advances of the Western front in 1918. A really good series to watch in-between gameplay is the YouTube series "The Great War" which is very well done and goes week by week 100 years ago. Very good info and you learn a lot.

Dan.

Im really really really happy that they went with a WW1 shooter. The amount of interest in WW1 has sky rocketed. I know most people think its sad we need a video game to teach the youth, but it does a good job. I picked it up but probably will not play it for a month as were just finishing harvest and its time to winterize. Also has a new baby on the way.

Super excitted to try it tho.

Decent game, Pissed that they don't have any disks for the PC tho

And does anyone know how to keep the game from lagging when you use equipment?

After playing both games and a Great War buff I too prefer Verdun over BF1.
EA/Dice should've went for a WWII game instead of WWI if they are going to let every small arm in the game be full or semi-autos.
It doesn't feel WWI at all with all the SMGs and LMGs every soldier holds, and the only bolt actions being scoped (or useless without it).

This is true, unfortunately, historically accurate isn't what makes money. It is certainly a nice change in pace compared to the taticool shooters from before which really feels like the same old.

The game seem fun to play but not historically accurate. They doubled the speed of the tank because the original were too slow for the gameplay. France and Russia are not even in the game, they'll be in a future DLC, way to make money. At least you can unlock the Kolibri pistol which is hillarious.

I use it kolibri with the martini. They make a nice combo.

If you want to play a realistic bolt action game, go play red orchestra 2 on realism multiplayer. It's realistic to the point of bullet drop and you can manually adjust your elevation on all guns. It was a great game, but seriously, when its that realistic, #### gets tedious after a while, because...well you're crawling around tense all the time, otherwise dying from bullets you have no idea where they're coming from and taking random pot shots at random enemy directions. Like in real war. If you run around you just die. Alot.

Also, ww1 theme is better because its fresh, not overdone, there are a million ww2 fps shooters....and you can't trample people on horseback in any of them!
