I have been trying to find out what the quality is like of Bausch and Laumb scopes. I know that the newer ones were made by bushnell, Is the B&L elite 4000 identical to the bushnell elite 4200? Or are there any quality differences?

I think the true B&L scopes were made in USA in the 50's and 60's. They had no internal adjustment for elevation and windage. You had to adjust the mounts. After that they were made in Japan by LOW. LOW still makes them under the Elite name for Bushnell. LOW also makes Weaver, Nightforce, and others.

To tell the relative quality you would have to look at the size of lenses, quality, coatings, fully or not, etc..

3000 and 4000 Elites, Bushnell or B&L, pretty sure don't have Rainguard.

I have Bushnell and B&L 3000 Elites, same thing...and all made in Japan.
