Bbl & cylinder moved from colt new service to 1892 colt

I just came up with an idea and I am curious if it is feesable

I found a colt new service in .455 but it’s unfortunatly not old enough to be antique

Now I have a colt 1892 in 41 long colt that is an antique. My question is if I took the barrel and cylinder off the new service would the barrel threads match up with the 1892? And would the crane accept the .455 cylinder?

It’s probably a long shot but this is the best place to ask!

Colt new service barrel is same thread and size as gen 1 SAA .695x20tpi (larger than 1889 to python barrels).

As you know, th NS is actually designed around the .455 and .476 british service cartridges which have a larger rim diameter than .45 colt and .44-40 while 1892 is "41" frame size.

Actually the NS was designed to accept the largest available Centre fire cartridge rims (a problem colt had with the SAA and 1878 cylinders).

A colt NS cylinder is taller than the top strap of a 1892/95 frame if level with the bottom of the frame window. Counting the gas ring and star a NS cylinder is really close to 1/4" longer than a .41 cylinder.

The NS crane axle shaft if you will is centred at the bottom of the frame.

Going to agree with Lee... New Service is a Behemoth of a pistol compared to an 1892. I doubt that anything will interchange.
I know the mechanism's are quite dissimilar as well...had both models apart a few times.
