BC hunting, squirrel and crow, need hunting license?

Hi John. For crows, no. But watch your local bylaws re: discharging a firearm.
As for squirrels, if you mean red squirrels or Douglas squirrels you are NOT allowed to hunt them, they fall under the category of "furbearers" of which you are only allowed to hunt wolf, coyote, bobcat, lynx, bears, cougar and skunks and racoons, as well as some species of rabbit and hare, for all of which you will need to have hunting license (except for skunks and racoons, but that may have changed). Squirrels, foxes, martens, weasels, fishers, mink, beaver, muskrat, etc. can only be trapped for which you would need a trapping license.

Pick up a copy of the BC Hunting regulation synopsis and give it a carefull reading, more people should.

Cheers,
Ian

Page 14 of the BC hunting regulations synopsis states that you DO need a hunting licence to hunt crows unless you are hunting them on your property or they are damaging your property.

Grey Squirrels and Crows are Fair game in BC with a Hunting License :)
Make sure you know the diff between a Grey and Red squirrel and the diff between a Crow and a Raven;)
Have Fun !

Thanks MD, I've been away a while. What about 'coons and skunks? Just curious.

Ian

Raccoons and skunks are "Schedule B" animals that may only be killed for the specific purpose of protecting property unless an open season is designated.

In fact Raccoons and Skunks do have open seasons, with no closed season, a bag limit of 10 raccoons and no bag imit or skunks on Vancouver island but a specific season , Sept, 1 to March 31 but NBL in Region One for example.

You do not need a hunting licence for Myocastor coypus or Sturnus vulgaris.

I know that I don't need a license, but do I need a hunting number?(the thing you need to take CORE to get)

thx

Don't know, call the CO service.

But if you want to shoot things why don't you take the CORE and get the number?

Then you can shoot things you can eat.

There's not much more challenging than trying to wing shoot ducks.
