Seeking in person long range / precision rifle training in the BC lower mainland. Who runs these types of programs out west?

Much appreciated,
Mike

‘Precision training’? Do you mean for PRS? Or being precise at long range? How far?

As you’re no doubt aware, we don’t have a range that goes beyond 300 in the lower mainland.

If you want to know about PRS, we have a rapidly growing community that has rimfire matches at Abby and Chilliwack each month, and I think PoCo has regular practice sessions. TMSA has some practice sessions too.

Several rimfire PRS shooters do centerfire PRS but there are hardly any of those matches in BC.

Some also do long range shooting, but not at a range in the lower mainland. They will have a place they can go in the bush, or you are driving for a very long time to a larger range.

Long range for rimfire can be 200-300 yards, and you can practice wind calls and fundamentals with rimfire. Those skills will carry over to the bigger rifles.

Rimfire training is very valid, and quality rimfire ammo like ELEY Tenex or Lapua Long Range Match is far cheaper than centrefire ammo.

If you find yourself in Prince George, they are running a long range shooting program at their 1400m range. Great folks there.

I went to Alberta and have taken a couple RFMA courses. Amazing experience!

I wonder what it takes to develop a long distance range, other than distance, of course. Anywhere in the mountains around the lower mainland, I am thinking Chilliwack or Mission areas where one could obtain land, as well as permission to do this? I'm just new to shooting in the area, and I don't want to expend any energy on an effort that may previously been explored by anyone else. Does anybody have any idea?
