Bc does not need more people; what it need is less!
esp. in the bush.
and no, there is no public land to be had in BC.
cheap land is $ 1000/acre, if you can swing that.

Thats the warm BC welcome we've all come to know and love. FYI a guy asking about public land in a hunting forum might not be looking to buy property.
