BC tactical handguard, Frustrating.

Hi there,
I recently bought the BC tactical handguard from wanstalls when it was on sale.
I thought $50 off, What a steal.

Oh boy, Was i wrong.

The lower handguard went in pretty smoothly but the top handguard has given me nothing but problems trying to install it.
I'm using the FAQ on the website and using the youtube video as a reference but these do not do justice to just How much work is needed to fit this rail.

I'm at the point where i can see just how much i've filed off of the areas i'm supposed to and getting quite upset.
I'm trying to install it on a CSA if that makes any difference.

Hopefully other people will read this and stay clear of this handguard set, Unless ofcourse they enjoy spending over an hour of filing, trying to set, filing, trying to set etc.

What a disappointment.

Good news is i did manage to finally get it on after an hour and man, This handguard is solid.

However i had to file some major material off and even had to take some time to think of what was happening with the rail.

I realized i'm more disappointed with BC tacticals guide on "what to do if.." As it didn't help... at all.

I wasn't ready for a project and i got one.
 
My lower was a PITA, the top was easy on the CZ. The bad part is now the set is only for my CZ and will not fit my CSA.

Other than that the BC set is the cats AZZ.
 
Yeah I had the same issue with mine. You've gotta realize they over kill the dimmensions to keep with the "better to be too long than too short" philosophy, measure twice cut once school of thought. Cz858s vary quite a bit in their spec due to their surplus nature. Of course Csa are different as well and so they make the hand guard one size fits all and you customize to fit your gun snug, very snug. Snug is good. I had a really hard time getting the upper handguard pin to push in an line up. I had to do the suggested filing and then push down REALLY HARD and squeeze the upper against the lower while I tapped the pin in with a plastic mallet. Was like this the first few times and then finally now it's to the point where I can push the pin in without smacking it with a hammer. Still need to punch it out with a punch and hammer though when I do a takedown, but that's good. I'd rather have a tight firing gun than a loose rattling one, it would drive me nuts.
 
And to add, this the bar none the best handguard system for the vz58 platform, both in quality and in function. Fabs are decent but breakdown over time and I've seen one melt under extreme abuse. I've had a NEA upper and lower and it was garbage compared to the bc tactical, horrible rail support as well and the tiny little Allen screw on the upper would strip and fall out easily. No regrets with the bc tac
 
To fit mine I had to open up the latch pin hole a fair bit just to get the pin in. And I needed to use a punch and mallet to get it in and out.

I took a lot of effort to get the top into place at all. Where did you guys file it to better fit? Mine is on there pretty tight right now and will need to come off next time I shoot it, not looking forward to how I'm gonna have to beat on it to get it off.
 
I guess that is why they call it a "Pressure Fit Handguard" eh???

I totally agree with supahdave's comments. There are at least 5 major different company's making this firearm and to manufacture something that works on all platforms something has got to give and yes I would rather have tight fit that will wear into a nice fit as opposed to a screw or loose fit method and worry about reliability or losing something.
