Hey folks. Installed my bc mount on my sks today. Next I installed a green dot on it. I think the brand is vism? (offered in a combo by sponsor here).

Took it to the range and my results were both good and bad:

At 25 yards I had awesome groups (touching rounds) but was 2 inches off to the left.

Moved to 50 yards and had fist sized groups - but they were now like 5 inches to the left.

Problem is I maxed out the windage. No more adjustments can be made. Suggestions?

Have a look at both the BCT mount and red dot and make sure both are fairly inline with the bore. If they are then try a different optic. AFAIK Vism is another cheap chinese brand so unless something obvious is causing the problems then I would be looking there

what was the accuracy like with iron sights? when installing the optic wiggle it a bit as you tighten the clamps it can make a difference as to how the red dot sits. if it still way out and if your windage is maxed out try setting the windage back to neutral and try shimming. i know its hokey but it might get you by until you can afford a better one. if you are shooting to the left then you want to shim the back right of the sight or the front left or a combination of the both. rifle casings or tin cans make for good shims. it might work for you for a while on the cheap. i would spend a bit more on the red dot vortex sparc is only 200 and the strikefire is around 170 i have the strikefire and am quite happy with it.the dot is not as bright as the sparc from what i hear but it works great in most conditions also the sparc is half the size of the strikefire.

lets see some pics!!!

Hey guys. Yeah the optic seems to be in great visual alignment with zero wiggle. Iron sights shoot just as good (minus the windage problem). Will the sparc have a lot more windage adjustment?

you could set up the rifle in a vice and then aim at a point and adjust the windage to see if the dot actually moves when adjusting if everything is working well take the optic off and then replace it and attempt to pull it in the direction you want to go (you are shooting to the left so you want to pull it more to the left) as you tighten it. this will make a difference in the alignment. if the red dot is defective send it back and ask for a credit towards a better optic.

i know a non sponsor that sells them but if you pm me i will give the info. they are located in kelowna,bc.

dweenz, the BC Tactical mount is not windage adjustable like the scout scope mount. The strike fire red-green is said to be quite dim but the red-only model is very bright. It is too big for the BCT mount however. Ghost, I would contact the vendor you bought from and see about either ideas to fix it or a refund/exchange. Another idea to try and rule out the optic would be to either head down to a local gunshop/gunsmith or meet with another gunnut and throw on a known good optic and check it against a bore sighter.

Ok. I had a closer look at the mount right now.. The bc tactical mount is rock solid. The vism green dot appears to be mounting solid as well. The problem is the windage only works for the first few clicks then stops adjusting.

Appears to be faulty optics.

Will the vortex sparc fit the bc tact mount?

i was only referring to the windage on the optic i should have clarified. let us know how you like the sparc if you do end up getting it. have other people had a problem with these bc tactical scout mounts not sitting parallel or inline with the barrel?

I hope so, i have both in the mail for my SKS

Try DS Tactical for the Sparc; $200 if you tell them you're a CGN member. They were super helpful with my banks lack of desire to let me spend my money.

Persist if you have trouble getting through - a new phone system was giving them fits last week.

No need for that, both One Shot Tactical and Wolverine carry Vortex. They aren't always listed on the website, so OP, give them a phone call. I didn't know Dave's Surplus carried Vortex, but they are a great shop as well.
