BC Vancouver Island/Lower Mainland Gunsmiths?

Another vote for Spencer at Advent arms. He and his dad are good people. They're in Coombs and an appointment is preferred. Front door stays locked. Are you a member of the Victoria Gun club? There's lots of milsurp collectors in that outfit that could offer you some suggestions.

Sadly it seems like it is unlikely I'll be able to find a replacement rear sight.

I'm not a member, or at least not yet. I have to carefully monitor my income before I can decide if I can afford the membership fees.

The Victoria (Saanich) gun show is excellent for finding stuff like that.. it's in October.. our club has one in May ( Courtenay).

Hello.

I'm a new rifle owner (me being new, the rifle being old...) and also living on the island, compiling a list of possible gunsmiths to look at my very very old Ross. From my searches here, a have about a half-dozen possibilities, but the posts that I got these names from are several months to years old, and I don't know if they are still active.

Guntech (Dennis Sorenson) - tried him, email rebounded as no recipient
Pullen's Gunsmithing - close and local, but old mention
Gone Fishin' - nearest is Duncan, but not too far away for me
Silhouette Shop (Vern Swarbrick) - Also Duncan
Murray Charlton - reportedly retired a few years ago
Bits of Pieces - Across the water on the mainland, also heard mixed reviews?

Any up-to-date information or recommendations anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Nobby Uno, he was one of the best smiths in North America, he was very well known in the international bench rest circuit. He did all of my work back in the day, moved to Courtney/Campbell river area a number of years ago, he would be in his 80's now and not sure if he is fully retired or not. Call up a Campbell river gun shop and see if they have any info on him.

Spencer at Advant Arms is great and highly recommended.

Surprised no one mentioned Gunsmoke in Campbell river, they do it all and will be spinning and fitting my new barrel and action in the next couple of months once it all arrives. Also good turnaround time, Darren said it’d be about 2 weeks to have it done.

I haven't seen Knobby for many years now... and back then he was not taking in new customers... only his old ones.

Finally got up island to Advent Arms! They checked Rosie (my placeholder name for the Ross 1912) out and told me that she has a surprisingly good bill of health for a century-plus old firearm that was in the hands of untold multitudes of Cadets.

He said the crown took a solid hit which probably will deal a blow to her accuracy, her rifling is still visible, and all of her safety features are working properly.

Unfortunately (or kind of fortunately, with hindsight) he said that she wouldn't be able to carry any scope. Obviously the metal has work hardened so boring and tapping holes for a mount would be a no-go, but also the dovetailed rear sight isn't the right form factor to be able to use a kit to turn it into a Picatinny rail. In hindsight, I think that is for the best, because she has been through a lot of trials already without having more surgery done to her.
