Hi,

Would it be ok to use one BCG with multiple uppers, or should you stick with one BCG per upper?

I know you can't do this with M14/M305 type guns (swap bolts around), but would it be ok with the AR platform?

I was just thinking about this, having more uppers than BCG's at the moment.

In the military you rarely get the bolt you had the last time the gave you a rifle. You may get the same rifle each time you go to the CQ but almost never get the same bolt or BCG.

I've been told:

New bolt + new barrel = Good to go
New bolt + used barrel = Good to go
Used bolt + new barrel = Good to go
Used bolt + used barrel = Check with No-Go gauge for excessive headspace

If anything, buy a new bolt per rifle and use the same carrier? If using the same bolt for multiple guns, maybe invest in a No-Go gauge and test every 1K rnds or so?
