I just wanted to show off the new rifle I put together. Really happy with how it turned out. Should be able to get out with it this week to shoot it. Thought some people might find it interesting if they were considering using any similar parts.

That looks like a fun little blaster.

How does the action feel compared to Remington / Savage / etc?

I would say the action and overall build quality feel considerably better than Remington/Savage level, I was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully it shoots as nice as it handles.

Also worth noting, I contacted BCL customer service with a question while putting it together and they got back to me with a few minutes. That’s a BIG upgrade on previous experiences with the brand. Maybe things are turning around over there, I certainly like supporting Canadian manufacturing when I can. BCL/Triggertech/MDT.

I sent them an email about the bison and they replied in 10 minutes. I was super impressed

Looks great. A bit heavier than I expected but it is an action and chassis setup not upper/lower receiver. Very interested in these once the 20 round mags are available.

Great photos! I love what you did to it, dahhhling...

The MDT stuff is so slick!

It looks fantastic... i just can't get behind a 10lbs loaded 223... especially with a barrel that maxes it's effective range at about 300 yards...

I've been posting mine in the Black and Green Rifles section. Never considered my Bison to be a Precision rifle.
Bought mine July 20th. Took it to one range trip and it developed a consistent FTE issue within 35rnds.
BCL Customer Service responded to my email within 24hrs and sent a return shipping label. My Bison is all packed up and being sent back tomorrow for diagnostics.
Other than the FTE's, I think the fit and finish is VG. The aesthetics appeals to me and the Triggertech Remington 700 Primary Trigger is really nice. Looking forward to picking up a few of BCL's 20rnd mags....

prevost12....I hope you don't have the same FTE's or any other issues.

What’s going on with the mag in this picture? I there some sort of spacer in there? The mag looks too small for the mag well. I haven’t noticed that on other ones.

Maybe just the camera angle/shadowing. I have to admit the mag well is over-engineered. Could have thinned it out a bit and no need to be flared as there's not going to be any speed-loads on a bolt-gun imo. The mag is a Colt 20rnd. I prefer the length/look of it vs the 30rnd and 10rnders.

Who did you contact specifically?

I bought a Bison this past June. On my second range trip with about 100 rounds thru the gun I also experience a FTE. On closer inspection I discovered the extractor had walked loose from the bolt and actually fell into the magazine while firing (I spent quite a bit of time searching around for the parts until I took the mag out and heard something rattling in it). After disassembling the mag the located the extractor and detent ball but the spring was nowhere to be found. Anyway, I registered my rifle on BCL's website and submitted a warranty request. I heard nothing back over a week later so I reached out thru an email link on Instagram. Again no response. I sent an email to their support email address a couple days ago and I'm still waiting. Not sure what's going on with them but it's almost been two weeks and I'm definitely not getting any semblance of good customer service!

Welcome to gunnutz CTT, bummer that BCL's new bolt action is experiencing teething issues.... with the time it took to release you'd think extraction or ejection issues would have shown up in testing. This will not help their previous reputation much if it continues.

Who did you contact specifically?

I sent an email via BCL website (just like you did) and received a response from the Customer Service/Warranty Rep (Carrie) within 24hrs. An Expedited UPS return shipping label was attached to the email response from BCL CS.

I sent the Bison back this past Tuesday and received an email from BCL the next day(late Weds afternoon) that after diagnostics the extractor was replaced. 30rnds of 5.56 NATO and .223rem were fired without a single FTE.

The Bison is in transit and I should have it back tomorrow(Friday).
4 days. In my Books that's amazing Customer/Warranty Service with super fast turnaround and I believe BCL is headed in the right direction in building their Reputation.

CTT....you may want to follow up with a phone call.

johNTO, did they say what was "wrong" with the original extractor? 4 day turn around is good for US service... for Canada that is a new record and far from typical!

Best thing BCL could do is be transparent and let people know what problems have come up and what the solutions are.

Can-down.....the email I received from CS did not go into details. When I inspected the extractor (before sending it off) I did not notice anything unusual eg. chips, damage, etc.

I'll see if there's a detailed report of their findings and will share it here (if there is one).
