Hoping to see some scouts in 16" barrel, but with the loudner on, it will be more like an 18" barrel, I think 12" is fine.

Is the quality control on these guys better than the old BCL/NEA products? They're very neat looking. And I'd like to support made in Canada products, but it was...hard with their old products.

Feedback on issues I have read about them has been positive, with them working to get issues solved promptly.

They are really trying to get out from under the previous reputation and have a video from maybe 2019 or so going over all the extra steps and equipment they are using to keep quality control high.

The accuracy is claimed 1 moa for the 16" barrel but I think their standard for the shorter barrels is more like 1.5-2 moa for some reason. I've never had a chance to handle one but they look a bit block like to me and at almost 7 pounds before optics they are on the heavy side for a 12.5 " "scout" rifle.

Just reading some of the specs as I couldn't remember the actual weight (6.9 lbs), and I thought this comment about being the only non restricted frt firearm to take a stanag mag was a bit strange.

HELLO, We are very excited to announce the release of the MRX Bison. The MRX Bison is a bolt action rifle built on our MRX Supershort action, which is available in 5.56N, 300BLK and 7.62x39 . The rifle is designed to bridge the gap between accuracy, mobility and AR15 compatibility, which creates the ultimate compact bolt action rifle for the ranch, range or backcountry. A true “Canadian Made” scout rifle. The MRX Bison is the only post-ban firearm that accepts AR15 magazines and has a non-restricted FRT classification issued by the RCMP (#196461). The MRX Bison will allow operators to use any AR15 stock, grip or magazine and it weighs in at 6.9 pounds, offering bolt action accuracy in a compact and lightweight package. The MRX Bison is available in two configurations, the “scout” and the “ranger.” The scout is a true short barreled scout rifle with a full shroud for mounting optics, short range red dot sights and magnifiers. The “ranger” is a light hunting rifle that has the ability to shoot to 1 MOA accuracy and has a picatinny rail attached to the top of the action for mounting scope rings or quick release mounts. Yeah well there are Ruger American Ranch rifles that definitely take AR mags and are definitely non-restricted. So that's total BS. But I'm glad to hear these guns are better. I remember hearing and seeing total horror scenarios with the NEA ARs. Those things were crap. The bolt gun really looks good though. Nitrided barrel, AR grips, AR mags, AR buffer. As long as they work and are reasonably accurate I see rifles like this as the future of firearms ownership in Canada once the semis get the boot.

Thanks for the feedback boys.

They claim to be the only POST BAN bolt action that takes AR mags. The American is pre-ban.

That said, Im waiting for the 300 BLK with the 'Tactical Peanut Butter" finish.

It's a strange and unnecessary claim to make in my opinion and the way it's worded is ambiguous.... fact is they are not the first or only firearm that is currently non restricted using stanag mags.

I guess the question is how common are the issues?

I can only recall an issue with either early extractors or ejectors, and that seemed to be remedied quickly.

Other then that issue the average accuracy being reported in the 2-3 moa range which is not stellar by today's standards for a bolt action rifle. I will have to make a point of hitting some gun shops next time in Vancouver and see what they feel like in hand.

I think BCL is serious about improving the past reputation, I like the idea of these compact guns but my Ruger ranch is a laser beam with cheap ammo and was less then $700.
