My BCL102 will be my first rifle in an AR-style platform and I notice a metric crap-tonne of specialized AR tools for maintenance for sale out there.

Other than the cleaning kit items (jags, brushes, rod, pull-thru snake) and CLP, what does the collective genius of CGN think that I need to maintain this rifle?

Thanks in advance.

The swiss have a way to keep their barrel in top condition. Right after shooting the barrel bore is greased to keep the carbon in suspension.

I've never lubed my ar's as much as the picture in the link. I've made sure to keep the bolt and bcg lubed. I didn't drench it, but always kept it wet to the touch, especially on the rails of the bcg. I've shot mine in practice for 3g competitions and in 3g competitions. 1000's of rounds, and I've not had a hickup doing things my way. Just make sure you keep the carbon fouling on the bolt and bcg to a minimum; I clean and lube after every match and practice session. It's not an AK, and so it needs constant attention to be kept clean and lubed.

I run patches down the bbl in between 200 to 500 rounds. I always find lots of copper. I use good ammo too (american eagle and handloaded smk's), but with how hot it gets, I am sure that is why there is copper in the bbl. I haven't noticed any difference in the brands of clp either. Some people are picky, but I buy what's on sale.
