Probably should've put this up here earlier (it's on Practiscore and Facebook) but there will be a centrefire BCPRL match Sunday June 12th up here in Pemberton. It's a new format (for us) so here is a brief explanation:

This will be a departure from our typical "PRS" format in that the whole event will be timed and you'll shoot the entire course of fire in one go. Placement will be determined by points followed by time. The total round count will be approximately 40 rds of rifle ammo and unlimited pistol ammo (although if you don't miss a shot with your pistol you could clean it with 18 rds). If you're familiar with the Pemberton range, there will be 2 rifle firing "locations" per (3) ranges and 1-2 pistol firing "locations" per range. The shooting locations will be marked on the ground and although there won't be any designated props to shoot off, there will be props that you can choose to shoot off (or not). Target ranges, locations (detailed photos) and the course of fire will be sent out ahead of time. Basically you'll show up for set individual times, get a safety brief and then shoot the match. All gear will have to be carried on your person the entirety of the match. The COF still needs to be firmed up but in essence, on go your time will start, you will engage pistol targets then clear and show safe before transitioning to your rifle to engage the designated targets from location 1. Then you will clear your rifle and show safe before moving to position 2 and either engaging pistol or rifle targets. And so on and so forth so location 3,4,5 & 6. Once you are done shooting all the stages you must return to the start at which point your total time will be logged. One thing to keep in mind that will make this match easier is gear management. The round count is low but it will be much faster to be able to carry full mags than top them up (applies for pistol and rifle). Brass will be policed up behind you (and you can reclaim it once you're done shooting so mark it) but it would be practical to have a dump pouch or similar to drop empty mags in. Think carefully about what kind of setup and gear you want to bring. Speed is good but hits are more important. The stages won't be blind so you'll have the opportunity to watch others shoot them before you if you so desire. The idea is to emphasize problem solving so there won't necessarily be a "best" way of shooting each location, you can solve it how you like based on what gear you use and how you like shooting.

What's the point of having props then? Because everyone will just shoot prone if they can...

the pemberton range is on the side of the hill, generally the longer the shot the further up the hill you have to shoot. shooting prone (not off a sloped pad) could be really difficult.
