I was talking to BC_Guy last night and he let me know about the BCRA Service Rifle Shoots and Competitions that go on. So Cool. I just wanted to know if anyone had a copy of the membership package?

I also read a thread by Longshot talking about getting a "service rifle 101" going at one of the ranges here in the LM.
Does anyone have some more awesome advice for me on how to get started, who to make friends with, or who to talk to?

Alright now that I have longshots attention, where do i start? I was emailed some of the packages outlining the different courses, competitions and dates. Ive never shot like this before, so is a good first to just come out and watch? Where do i go from here?

Im really stoked to start doing this!
 
Come out and watch or come out and shoot. If need be, you can become a BCRA member on the day if you decide to shoot. For now -practice anything but shooting from the bench :D
 
You should just come out and shoot! There is nothing to be afraid of since they tell you exactly what is going to happen for every match. Or if you are still concerned just come out for the two days and experience what its like. Pull some targets to get a feel for the scoring system and just hang with the guys and soak it up. The AR platforms seriously outnumber the few of us that shoot outdated stuff like the M14

Dude get out and shoot your rifle. Hook up with some of these outstanding nutz You will learn soooo..... much from guys like longshot, gunnerlove and even my little indian brother IMSHARKBAIT might have a trick or 2 up his buckskins. I know I learnt tonnes from all the guys I listed here. ALso Diamondcutter is a wealth of knowledge but he is in Edm and not BC like y'all. Get out and have fun shooting.
 
Yeah I wouldn't waste my time coming out to watch.Bring you rifle and shoot!Any info you need can be had by one of us on here or on the day.Believe me it will be the most fun (and challenging)shooting you may have ever had.where else will you get to fire your rifle to 500m?At targets that only appear for 3 seconds before dissapearing?Where else will you get to run and then shoot?And shoot moving targets?
The answer my friend is at the BCRA Service and Tactical rifle matches!If you wait till next year you will only be pissed at yourself for not shooting it this year.

There are quite a few guys that shot it last year for the first time.Hopefully a few of them will chime in and give thier experiences.
 
I agree, don't bother watching, join in. I was one of the new guys last year and I'll be back again. I did find it a bit of a learning curve but I've been accused of being slow :redface:, besides how else are you going to learn, just watching ain't going to get you there.
