What a hoot!
First time for me shooting over 100 yds. Everyone showed up at 7:00 am out there. One guy even came from DT Vancouver.

View to the firing line at 500 yds.

360 of the place. Beautiful!

Targets in the Butts.

Ryan's fist sized group @ 500 yds Prone Deliberate.
There are ten shots there, we just couldn't cram all the markers in!

What a day!

I want to thank Ryan for getting this together. It wasn't easy any step of the way.
We all had to get STATT's, and show up really early on a holiday weekend Saturday.
Running from 200-100 yds, then firing standing was a trip.
Some of us tried out the new electronic targets after. You see your shots on an ipad browser.
Very cool. Uses four microphones, and a wireless server.

Ryan came in first with an unbelievable 497/500! 68 V's (inside the green center area)
Surprisingly, I actually came in first out of the newbies. A 288/8V.
Absolute blast!
Thanks to everyone who made this a great event. Not intimidating at all.
It was great meeting everyone!

Wow great pics! I'm disappointed I didn't take more today. I shot like crap but it was my first time out but I did hit the 5 ring at 500 with a red dot and a 3X magnifier.

Thanks to all that attended. It was a good Match. It was great to see new SR shooters doing well at half a kilometer.
Thanks to International Shooting Supply for door prize.
Provincials are 30,31, and first of June
See you there

Great day! Thanks so much for organizing. First time for me to shoot over 100 yrds and really appreciate all the advice I received. Thanks to everyone for making it easy. Will join again for next time and loved trying out the electronic scoring system. So slick. General Volkes Range was an amazing range! Felt like I was on a golf course!

Volks is a CF range. They have their own set of criteria, and rules. CFO has nothing to say about approval.
Once you shoot there under a STATT, your LTATT has the CF range endorsement.
So I am led to believe.

I thought that once you shot there and became a member of the rifle association, that the association gave you a form to send to the CFO and then you had the military ranges added to your ATT.

I could be wrong though

You need an STATT till you get your LTATT with military range endorsement.
They also want you to renew the military portion every year after you renew your membership, even if you are a life member.

Good shooting fellas! Just wait til you are up there when the weather is nice. Pretty amazing place. Good on all you guys for making it out and trying something different. Also good on you guys shooting red dots for making hits at 1/2 a km! That can't be easy! Hopefully we can drag some more guys out at the end if the month for the BC Championships. A whole weekend of shooting these kinds of matches is a lot of fun. And the team matches like falling plates is some of the most fun you can have on a range. Hope to see you all out again at the end of the month!

I'll have to check but my att says military ranges right on it and it's good for a few years. I just went in to the cfos office and asked for the military range endorsment and they sorted me out right there no hassles. Didn't ask for a membership or anything. Perhaps they called Bob and asked if I was good to go?

Yes a red dot was a challenge as was using cheap ass Norinco 55 grain ammo and let's not forget the less than stellar capabilities of the guy pulling the trigger ! Haha
Looks like I'm building a dedicated upper with some proper glass and I'll get some better ammo for next time.

this was a ton of fun, and this was by far the nicest range I have ever seen!

This was my first time shooting beyond 200m and definitely want to be out there again.

I ran an aimpint with a vortex magnifier and could hit the 500m target. And fyi bi-pods are not allowed... that being said, resting on the mag was very effective.

I was using Remington 55gr and it was very consistent, but I was very limited with with the groupings the aimpoint could produce and am considering a 1-6x ar scope next time.

Its like meth. One try and its all over lol. Welcome to a large brotherhood that runs from one coast to the other.

Hey what's a long hair civie doing at a military range:p BTW I just finished my C7 qual at Heals last week. 200 meters is boring as all ####. Wish we could stretch it out to 500m. BTW what optics are you civie/reserve pukes using on your civie poodle shooters? Thanks

I resemble that remark!
I'm using a cheap 2.5-5x tactical 'looking' thing. Might be NCstar?
It works well enough, but was causing me some problems finding eye relief when dropping to prone from standing in the snap shoots.

Definitely going to be looking into getting some better glass for that thing. Something with a larger sweet spot for the eye relief.

My pictures from the day; I had a great time out there and I'll certainly be coming back when my work schedule permits! Lots of things to change, 55 Grain was not so good. my 3-9x NCStar optics was Okay..ish I was also having trouble with the eye Relief causing me grief when dropping to prone and really most of the time, and my magazines continue to be the bane of me. Thanks for inviting us out Ryan!

Regarding the military endorsement, You have to send a form into the BCRA now that you have a membership (find the info here) and then they will contact the CFO to issue you a new LTATT with the Military endorsement, it's NOT automatic. however it IS good until your PAL expires (with a BCRA membership)

On getting new ATT's, bear in mind the BC CFO is removing "to gunsmith" on new LTATT's.
Not sure if they will be issuing all new ones to replace the current ones allowing it, or if those will remain valid until expirey.

You might not want to loose that for the sake of getting another STATT for Vokes.
