Hi,

I finally see a service rifle/condition match that doesn't conflict with my schedule (been trying to get to one all year). http://www.bcrifle.org/misc/2017/2017-LMR-Schedule-Mar23.pdf

I went to the http://www.bcrifle.org/schedule.html but I don't see any registration form for the event. Is it just a show up and register there?

Anything I need to know before I show up? Haven't shot one before.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's a military match that BCRA members can attend as civilians. You do need the military range endorsement on your ATT to shoot a restricted on Vokes range though. You are right there isn't any match registration form so am going to guess its a show up and shoot. That's what I'm planning on doing anyway.

I haven't shot a Canadian Service conditions match before either but you should review the course of fire (matches 1-12) and bring enough ammo. There's a lot of good info on the Service Conditions forum here especially in the older posts.

It looks like the format is pretty standard with a deliberate, snaps and rapid fire stage at 200,300 and 500 with run downs in between. Like I said I've only ever shot the US style service rifle, which is quite different and a lot more of a deliberate, slow fire target rifle style vs the Canadian version.

Again I'm a newbie to this as well but have tried to prepare and it should be fun regardless of how much I try to keep up as a first timer.

I'm sure some of the experienced people here could sum up a basic equipment list, and again check the older Service Conditions posts here.

Same....just read the email:

"I have been asked to let the membership know that this Sunday's Service Rifle Shoot (July 16) has been cancelled.

Sorry for the short notice.

BCRA Secretary"

I think there is an SR shoot in Nanaimo in August and then again in October.

There is an Eventbrite page for tickets but I don't know if forum rules allow me to post it here? Just Google "Van Island Service Rifle"

This will now be my "Plan B"
