Thanks for the help

Is this one of those "damned if you do and damned if you don't" situations? A national park will protect the area from mining, logging and most other development but at the same time means NO HUNTING, user fees, tourist buses, hiking tree-huggers, etc.

That's exactly what it means. You forgot to mention the well paid, uniformed rangers with the mustache, a auto loader on their hip and a perpetual frown on their face, who will now be part of the landscape. Just in case you should venture over the park border with your quad.
No, I am strongly against that area for park status.

Pretty sure I know what he meant, but funny anyways :)

What I find funny, is the common attitude that an area should be saved from activities the person is disinterested in, such as mining or oil/gas extraction, but should not be saved from activities the person is interested in, such as quadding or hunting.

I wonder how many BCWF members in the Fernie area pay their bills by participating in coal extraction?

it has already been logged, drilled, and mined in the past.

the reason there are so many grizzlies, is that nobody lives there, and not that many people use the area.
