the sad part is because so many ppl are buying the mainly useless bdc many companies are getting away from the phenomenal and most useful plex reticle just as many companies have gotten away from low 1x up scopes because so many believe in outside chance at a longshot will save their hunt

Given that you have never shot at a deer past 100 yards, your extremely limited range of experience explains your opinion. Many of us have far broader experiences, having hunted many species, under many different conditions, so naturally we prefer different equipment to hunt with.

I'm not saying bdc or higher power scopes don't have their place, just that most hunters really don't need them.
Marketing .... It's not always about what we actually need, but what we think we need. Aside from that, a hunter in SW Ont farm country will most likely have different scope and rifle needs than that of a fellow out west who hunts in the mountains or praries.

Why does it bother you? Nobody is making you buy one. Do you even need a scope for 100 yards? Maybe you don't even need sights for a lot of your shots.

People really should realize that their opinions are shaped by their circumstances, and sometimes those opinions look pretty dumb outside of their own backyard. In some places 100 yards is a long shot, and in others 300 is a short one and 500 is routine.

Have you ever traveled anywhere to hunt, or do you hunt only around home? Go on a caribou or antelope hunt, then get back to us.

For the record, I'm not what I would call a long-range fan, and I don't feel hampered without BDC reticles. As long as they aren't too obtrusive, I like them well enough, but don't usually need them. When they come in handy...they come in really handy.

I live in a rural area, rarely go into town if I don't absolutely need to, and haven't been in a traffic jam for years. What I don't get is this: what's with this automatic transmission fad? Who needs'em? I don't even know why they make those infernal things! :)

Those stupid fluid drives are just a way to separate fools from their money. Or maybe its the other way around and manuals are a plot by Raybestos to sell clutches. Either way, I'm outraged because the horse is under appreciated.
