PAL-less member here from Edmonton, just throwing myself into the community while I prepare to become a firearm owner myself. Currently waiting to retake my CFSC and CRFSC (last did it in 2009 and nobody seems to have any record of me taking it - luckily it was free through a school program).

Welcome, its too bad about your old test results if i recall they are only valid for a year. All the more reason to get your paper work done quick and join the fun.

Thanks, everyone!

From everything I've been told my understanding is that the test results have no expiration date. Once you take it, it's done... provided the results are forwarded to the CFO or the CFP offices, and therein lies my problem. The organization I did my tests with told me they keep their records for a long time, but mine were absent. The guy I spoke to did some digging around at both the provincial and federal levels and said that my results were ghosts. Luckily the courses were free (minus cost of the the handbooks) so I can't really complain too much. I'm more annoyed that I didn't discover this sooner than anything else. I'm sure I could have done more digging, like tracking down the instructor or phoning the CFO or CFP lines myself, but I figured it's been so long since I held a firearm other than the old Cooey 64 collecting dust in the basement that it'd serve as a good refresher as well.
