Need to buy a new beam scale wich is a good one I have a Pafice beam scale my dad had and it does not weigh constant veries by 3 tens +or- 0 found out by weighing a lead over and over thanks for any imput

Had 2 RCBS 505 scales from 70s, went to electronic scales, had problems with electronic one while it was sent away for repairs pulled out old 505 RCBS but found they where not working that well, balance beam was sticking couldn't find problem, sent RCBS a Email about getting them checked out for problems.
They sent me a repair authorization to send to Ohaus scales for repair I paid shipping they came back in 2 weeks, work like new ones all refurbished.
My total costs $10 shipping, RCBS warranty like Leupold scopes hard to beat

If cleaning up the scale does not resolve the problem, get an RCBS 505. I also recommend a scale check weight set. I'm at the stage now that when I zero my scale I tweak the adjustment to match the actual weight I am going to measure.

Check weights are a must. That's how I "zero" my scale. You never really know if 0 is really 0 if you don't.

Well, TECHNICALLY, zero is always zero. If the scale is 'zeroed', it's always accurate at zero. That`s just the `starting point`for the scale.

The problem is that you don't always know if 50 grains is 50 grains. ;)

And I agree - check weights are a MUST. 55gr bullets are 9 times out of 10 not exactly 55gr!!!

I just bought a used 5-0-5 scale off the EE.

I have a calibrated Mettler analytical balance (+/- 0.01mg) installed on a marble top at work and made up some check weights. The 5-0-5 was right on the money weighing 4.0, 17.5 and 437 gr (1 oz) +/- 0.1gr.

It is important that you check your scale in the rough area you are weighing. A scale that is accurate at 20 gr is not necessarily accurate for light loads or for 500 gr.

I'm a newb to reloading but trust me I know about weighing things.
