I live/work in Port Renfrew (where the bear attack happened on the boat) and that is somewhat a different situation from this situation, at this time. If the bear continues to hang around consistantly on your property, see's you/smells you once in a while, and has no fear of returning. you are only relieving his hesitation of people. Not saying he will goes as far as the Renfrew bear, as they are still completely different situations. For one the Renfrew bear was old, in poor health, with poor teeth. In other words, desperate for a good meal. Obviously human habituation allowed him to come as close as he did to attack without hesitation. However, your bear, is a young adult; I would say around 3.5-5 max depending on when the photos were taken. May be somewhat habituated, depending on where else he goes, but likely still conservative as it is his/her first or second year without mom.
Whether the bear is a threat or not is a different situation; as each animal is different. I would say if you have seen the bear in person by yourself (no children), you could likely assess the potential of the individual reasonably. Watch its body behavoir (stance, position), ears (are they laid back), mouth (open, closed, jaw clacking), breathing (is he snorting, huffing), initial resonse (does he run, run and look back, stand his ground) ETC. By monitoring by yourself at a reasonable distance over several days you could rate the danger of this bear. That being said, they are wild animals and can be unpredicatable. I would recomend bear spray as I find it more effective than shotguns. Just my experience.
