So this is my second year baiting but really my first putting a lot of time and effort in. Tonight went to bring in bait and got about 25-30yards from the bait and seen a decent sized bear leave. Walked a few more steps and noticd a large bear at the bait with no intention on leaving. I made some noise talked to him to see if he would leave so I could bait but wouldn't. So I backed out and will go again later. My question is what do you guys do in a scenario like this. Continue in or back out and wait?

Ever try taking food from a dog? Back out and come back.... if it was in season just shoot it. When does your season start? I ask cause I am in a tree right now over bait.

I have had possesive bears take over baits on a number of occasions. If they get too cheeky, we take them out... if they are good bears but dont show aggression, just a disinclination to leave... we chuck the bait as close as possible and come back with a hunter. It is not a common thing though... most bears, particularly large older bears will avoid all human contact, even at food sources.

Bear season starts in 9 days here. I've walked in on them lots and they usually leave bit this guy wouldn't leave. Had them walk away slow and also run like hell. This was weird.
