My bait barrells are getting slammed this year!! I have cameras set up at all 3 stations, and I have pictures of 7 different bears that stop in almost daily...I have never seen so many bears in my bait before. I cant wait for September 1st!!

Anyone else from South/Central Ontario having the same results??

Why are you starting to bait so early? Sure makes for a lot of work and expense when you have to feed multiple bears for that long before the season opens. Anyways, good luck and post some of those pictures.

Its a new area for me...I put them out early just to see what is hanging around the area. I thought that maybe I would get a couple to come in, but never expected this many bears around.

I usually start baiting about a month before season opens, so I started about a month earlier than normal...as I said, I wanted to see what (if anything) was hanging around the area. Nothing huge, but nice bears to fill the freezer for sure.

I don't start baiting until the last week of July/first week of August, but when I do the usually start to get nailed within 3 days and continue to until I nail one back.

My Tim Horton donuts have not produce any hits in last 3-4 weeks, although they are around. Do you think its time to switch my bait? Like switching to coffee-Time donuts? :p

I'm curious, what are you baiting with?

I get expired bread products from a local grocery store. Cereal seems to work the best for me...the really sugary ones like fruit loops and corn pops...with some stale bagles and other bread, smothered in old cooking oil from restaurants. I usually can gather enough stuff to re-fill once a week. I may have to subsidize every now and then if I dont have time to scrounge...in that case I use "The Bear Magnet" bear bait.

you are baiting pretty early and I wouldn't want to risk stop baiting and have them leave it for good. Could get expensive feeding 7 bears for another 6 weeks before you can hunt it.

I'd put out Maybe 100 lbs of corn each time, make it so they have to work for the feed so it doesnt get eaten right away. Maybe baiting just a little at a time will make the bears compete against each other for the food and when the season opens, they will hit your bait hard right after you bait it.

Good luck.

Yall are lucky I only get one week in which to start baiting and do my hunting. I'm hoping to fill a tag on an up and close shot but most likely ill be walking and stalking hill tops over berry patches

I've had nothing but good luck with Tim Hortons... It's all I use.. Did you put out a stink bait so they could find it?
