Yep. Happens all the time! Doug Larsons predation study is the classic on moose calf predation, and shows that 60% are dead before September of their birth year, most taken by bears.

most folks that have lost livestock to bears feel this way...

city dwellers rarely make the jump from a statement like this to the reason why it's made...helps to give em an idea where yer comin from.

I know black bears well and they aren't all Yogi and BooBoo,and will snatch a beef calf easier than takin a calf moose...

Here's a couple that have been posted previously in the past but some may have missed. The moose weren't quite so lucky. First is a black bear obviously, the second is a big, bad grizzly.
