Bearcat for the wife

Check out Wholesale Sports. If one is available they will order one in for you. Not sure why, but for pistols, some of the prices beat most other stores by a long shot. I believe that the stainless version was $425 there last time I checked.

I would like a 3 pack for my family...

I am a fortunate guy. On the wall of my office, I have a framed page from a 1946 Sports Afield (or maybe it was Field & Stream) that I bought via Ebay years ago ... a full page black & white advertisement for a Smith & Wesson Model 34 Kit Gun. The company was explaining that ... now that the war was over ... they'd be ramping up production ASAP and that folks just had to be patient. I remember seeing a similar ad when I was a kid in about 1961. Similar graphics ... knapsack, canoe, fly-rod, bonfire, modest canvas tent ... the stuff of a 12-year-old's fantasy world ...

And I (naturally) now have a Model 34 ... bought in Winnipeg in about 1973. The phrase "jewel-like" comes to mind.

I also have a 4" Model 17, but the little Kit Gun is just sooo cool.

Yeah, and reality when we had the means to "be out there".

Regarding the Bearcat, nice little .22 (never fired one, but I have done a Single Six) but there are better choices. JMO.

In a Single Six you could get a Convertible with a cylinder for .22 Mag. as well!

Better? How? More versatile, maybe? If that was the only consideration I would get a (another) .357. I find that I shoot very little .22 mag out of a convertible due to the price, and small performance (velocity wise) boost. I like the .22 mag, but its more of a rifle round.

I would rather have the bearcat myself, as its a dedicated .22 (short, long, long rifle), not a .22 mag, with the .22 mag barrel and a spare .22 LR cylinder. There is a difference which is why the convertibles will shoot the magnum better.

And the Bearcat is sized right and handy for the .22 LR.
