I have a hard time getting into the modern style stocks/chassis' made with wood elements. Wood/laminate doesn't bring any functional value, and the aesthetics aren't to my taste. Just not my preference I guess.

I love that Steampunk style in your picture. This is actually my favorite one. I talked to the guy who makes these laminate stocks. He has already designed his own metal-wood rifle chassis. He is currently preparing the machinery and a process for the prototyping phase. If he provides some details, then I will share them here. It should be something interesting.
