Hi all,

I am thinking of bedding my CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62. The rifle has 4 contact areas with the stock:
1. Rear tang area/screw
2. Recoil lug and front action screw area
3. Under barrel recoil lug (a lug dovetailed into the barrel about mid-way along the barrel)
4. Muzzle cap area

Has anyone ever bedded a rifle like this? One could do the action in the ‘normal’ way and I would think it would be wise to bed the rear contact surface of the under-barrel lug too, then leave the rest floating.
What about the muzzle cap area?

Would you think it best to bed these 4 areas and 'float' the rest, or just fully bed the whole barrel from the recoil lug/receiver ring to the muzzle?

Thoughts?

PS the rifle shoots well, so perhaps I should just not tinker but I am thinking of making the make the stock more impervious to moisture…maybe just better oil sealing?

Funny to see this pop up. I was looking at my CZ 550 FS today when I was putting a scope on it. I noticed that it needs tightening at the very least and wondered if I should bed it.
I haven't done anything yet but I would only bed the action and recoil lug. I've always thought that the point of bedding was to secure the action to the stock but keep the barrel free floating.
My end cap doesn't come in contact with the barrel. I think I am going to follow advice I read on a forum regarding the FS model and just torque down the screws.

You can check out the advice here: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/czechpistols82792/cz550-fs-t12359.html

Cheers!
