Im looking on getting a rifle bedded soon, but im not sure what the best style is as I herd theres a few materials to use. Im planning on getting done by a gun smith so what would the price range be for a rifle:confused:

Let me know on average price range and what material is best suited.

Thanks.

I've seen as high as $250...... But that was a bedding job where the stock had to be inletted just a bit differently. A Parker hale barrelled action into a Mauser stock..... Close, but just not quite right.

$150 seems to be average. I know a guy locally who will do a M-700 for $100 cash, hardly worth doing it yourself at that price!

Cheers

Typically free floating the barrel and bedding the action for best accuracy on a factory wood stock (700 or similar) starts at $75.
With pillars added it starts at $125.

Brownell"s Acraglas or Acragel is as good as anything. It depends on what your gunsmith likes to use...

Looks like this when finished

I was quoted $400 for a vanguard. The same guy quoted $750 to ream my .458 win to .458 lott. He used to to good reasonably priced work. I think now he just does good work.

Acraglas or Acragel is just two part epoxy with fibreglass filler. Works well and is easy to do yourself by simply reading the instructions on the box. Kits run about $30 at your local shop.
Epp's smithy starts at $100 for a bedding job.
