Hey guys...wondering if any of you have done this, if it changed the accuracy for the better, etc. I know the accustock system is supposed to BE it's own bedding, but I've heard very mixed reviews of how well it does it's job. Anyhow, I don't buy allot of rifles...rarely feel the urge to modify them this way, so I'm not 100% sure I want to take this on, or, have someone do it for me. I figure I might prefer to pay someone rather than risk messing it up.

Open to opinions on this, PMs if you're local to me (Richmond Hill to Newmarket ON) and could do the work very soon. Your experience level, or qualifications would maybe tip me over the edge on the decision.

Thanks!

It was easy, grind out extra clearance where you want to add the bedding material, use clay to block the material from going where you don't want it. Make action screw studs to guide the action down into the stock. Poor your bedding compound, rub release agent all over your metal. Use cut up bike tire tube strips to tie the action to the stock. Leave it to cure for a day or two. Break them apart carefully, then use a Dremel and modelers knife to clean it up. Did this to my savage M12 FCV. Helped accuracy noticeably. I've also done it on military rifles in wood stocks with good results.

Just following up on this. Are simple bedding jobs always home-grown affairs, or, are there gunsmiths who will do this work? The only gunsmith local to be told me it's a $300 job and he can't look at it for another 3 months.

I'd also like to pillar and bed my 93R17, or prefer to have it done as not sure if I'm up to the task and don't want to ruin a new stock, closest guy to me that does it said 6 months, which is fine but he wants me to just leave it with him as he doesn't call when it's time to work on it, I don't want to be without the gun for that long when it's essentially only a few day job.

I'm in central Sask. Anyone know of someone who can do it with a better turn around time or someone who would call when almost ready to start?
