Hi wondering if anybody has experience bedding a Stolle F class action. Is it any harder to bed the rectangular action? Is there any other consideration or prep I should do prior to bedding this action?

I've done the many other round actions in the past however I've never done a rectangular or an action like the panda. Any thoughts or ideas will be gladly taken thanks in advance.

Very nice problem to have!! I suspect that Kelbly would have some advice/guidance. I would be inclined to trust their instructions over that offered by a stranger on this site .... not that there isnt some excellent folks here!! Like you and me!!!

I tape the sides to within 1/8 of the bottom so it's easier to get out of the stock. Also tape the front of the lug and the rear of the action especially if its going into a wood stock. The bedding tends to have a harder time flowing up the sides so you really need a bit more space between the action and stock to allow for this. If the bottom corners on the action are sharp, break them after bedding not before. The action should really have a bit of draft on the sides and then the taping the sides would not be needed, a friend of mine does this to them with excellent success.

.. Kelbly's drawings dont illustrate a draft on this action fwiw. Would you also use pillars?

Thanks Ian for the advice I would have never thought of taping only up to 1/8 of the bottom of the action. Genius. I could be doing this on either Aluminium Chassis Stock and or a wood stock. This gives me a good lead.

AP you're a excellent folk and there are many here I put you a close second to Ian at this time. :) I'll take third. ;)

Another tool to make it easy to get out of the stock after bedding is a U shaped alu or wood item that fits over the action and rests on the top edge of the stock. Use a C clamp with rounded edges to pull the action out of the stock with finger pressure at the front end. If you don't understand this confusing description let me know and I will post a picture. I also use adjustable set up jigs to get the action at the right height etc.

Hi Ian this sounds like an interesting action pulling tool. I can sort of of visualize what you're describing if you have a photo please do share. Our if you don't want to post it please let me know and I'll email you for an example. Thanks again for your help.

Cheers
