Bedding Compounds? Help

I've done 3 rifles now (including my M14, that was a nail biter but very successful).
I like Marine Tex. It's harder to find these days but it's my preference.
Get a good quality clay to plug everything up that needs to be plugged.
Make sure you double coat with the release agent. Just to make sure you got all the areas where you missed the first time lol ;)
I haven't glued an action to a stock yet.
What rifle are you bedding if you don't mind my asking?

I've done one, an old M1917, and it is nerve wracking as h@ll the first time, won't be as nervous the next time around. I used Devcon 10110 liquid steel. There's a very good sticky in the gunsmithing section, he's doing a Rem 700, but a lot of the same principles apply. Good luck, Dogger

OP, get yourself some cheap bolts for the action from the hardware store.
The pitch is 1/4"x28.
Get two bolts and cut the heads off. Make sure they're long enough to clear through the stock when screwed into the action.
When you physically bed the receiver into your prepped stock, first thread the bolts into the receiver and use release agent all over them where they go into the receiver.
This will make sure the receiver is exactly where it's supposed to be in the stock and it will also make sure when you pull the receiver from the stock after your agent has hardened enough, you have two nice tight clean holes for you bolts to pass through after you clean your bed job up and reassemble.

I agree with above. I did a bedding job once where the finish was perfect. Looked 100%.

Damn action was canted a little bit. I still used it as is but it bothered me as the trigger position was not quite straight.

I still have the stock, since I can't sell it knowing this, but will attempt to inlet for a different rifle this spring.

A Brownells basic bedding kit has everything required in it,works great and is excellent for a first time bedding job. Any gunshop should be able to get them in their regular Brownells order and I believe Williams arms sometimes stock them---Dieseldog!
