Beginner Rifle Suggestions

Thankfully, there are lots of ads on here and other sites that can be researched to see what current pricing on used Rem 700s and Tikkas are.

Well the OP is obviously already looking at used Tikka's based on at least one post they've provided here.

Yes, a Tikka will most likely stretch the budget. While it's more expensive than other options (Savage, 783), it's still represents a better value proposition.

I'll leave it to the OP to decide ultimately what's going to work best for them. Sometimes its worth it to stretch the original budget, if the outcome is much better. But that's a decision for the OP.

Get a tikka and don't look back. I'm constantly astounded by the accuracy and capability of my T3X CTR.

I've owned many tikkas and never had a problem. Seems I always sold them to try something different and eventually always come back to a Tikka :p

Picked up a Tikka in 6.5 PRC, shot about 50 rounds through it and now it's being rebarreled to a 7 PRC.

I'm on my first one a 6.5 Creedmoor CTR with a 20" barrel and it's honestly unreal the performance I've got out of it so far. I'm literally kicking myself for not getting in the long range game 10 years ago but there's no time like the present. I'm hoping Tikka will release a factory gun in 7PRC because that's the next step I'd like to go to if I go for a larger caliber. The 7PRC seems like it's in the goldilocks zone between 6.5 PRC and the 300 PRC.

May I ask who's doing the work rebarreling your rifle Ginger?

Getting it done in our gunsmithing shop.

As for Tikka making a 7 PRC, we will probably be waiting until 2025? Tikka seems to hold back a year before they start making a new caliber, my guess is to see if it really is popular and not just a "fad". It seemed like it took a year before they started doing the 6.5 PRC for example.
