Hi,I'm new to firearms. And was looking around for a .22 handgun for my learning. My brother recomended a ruger mk2 or mk3, but I just don't like the look nor the feel of it (I've been to the range with him few times). So then we came across chiappa 1911 in .22 and gsg 1911 in .22 both got decent reviews, but gsg slightly more expensive. Was. Wondering if anyone had an experience with any of them and what they thought about it.

I haven't fired the GSG 1911...but I have held it and I don't like it.

that said, I just bought a anniversary edition Browning 1911-22-A1, but they aren't cheap, so you may not want to go in that direction.

I love the looks of the Rugers MKIII's and the Buckmark as they remind me of the Luger. :)

Assuming that you have your restricted PAL... and that you want to stick with a semi pistol... I would recommend that you consider the Browning Buckmark line... I have used both the Ruger MKII's and III's and the Buckmarks, and prefer the Browning gun... my current favorite though is my Ruger Convertable revolver (LR & Mag cylinders).

I just finished my CFSC/CRFSC and waiting on all paper work to go through, which leaves me at least 4 month for a little research (cause I know if I wait till my PAL arives I'll just jump on 1st thing I see, and not gonna like it lol). I also looked into CZ75's with .22 conversion kits, but an idea of "2-in-1" doesn't realy sits well with me. I guess I'll look into gsg in more depth. Thanks for the input! :)

Maybe he just doesn't like it Hoyt... It's not even close to the 2 guns he's looking for info on, not everyone has to like what you like.....

To the OP!
I've used a gsg 1911 on numerous occasions, and I love it! You cannot go wrong with this baby! Cycles 100% and eats anything in my experiences.
Good luck with whichever you decide on.
