I bought this rifle years ago and was told it's a Belgian Browning. I know it's been rebarrelled to 7 Rem Mag. I don't know what the original caliber was. From researching online, it looks to be a safari grade "9L" dated (1969?). My biggest question is what action is this rifle? Most other Belgian Brownings and other rifles based off of FN actions that I've seen are all CRF Mauser bolt long extractor styles. This one looks visually identical to all other FN based ones that I've seen except it uses a two lug bolt with a push feed "Sako" type bolt.

I have no interest in the value of the rifle as it was one of the last rifles I bought from my grandfathers estate and have no interest in parting with it.

If anyone can shed light on what exactly I have here it would be greatly appreciated. I'm interested in the machining marks, barrel proof mark, action style or anything of general interest about these styles of rifles.

Thanks, Joel

So is it a FN action or a Sako built one? Can't find any definitive answers on the subject. Anybody recognize the barrel proof mark?

Sako only provided the Sako round top medium and short actions, that is a Browning FN short standard magnum action with a weird bolt they did for a short while.

That's a late FN Supreme. Of course, this was done to lower prices against the american manufaturers. There are a few variantions know, such as one with a short blade type extractor.

Sako did supply triggers to FN and used the "commercial" M/98 and the Supreme for their early long actions, before they finalized their L61.
