I bought 2 boxes of Bell 7.62x54R for my polish M44 to use on deer. I was wondering if this ammo is any good for hunting, I can't find any information on the manufacturer or on bullet performance. I think it is 148gr.

What manufacturer do others use for expanding hunting ammo, Norma is out of the question due to price. Also where do people get their hunting ammo in 7.62x54R, All the shops I have checked only carry Bell.

Thanks in advance

I tend to stear clear of ammo with the abscence of ballistic information the same way I stear clear of political parties with no answers. Seeing as how you're hunting, don't be so cheap and buy quality ammo.

I see no problem with the Bell for deer. I used Bell 6.5 x 55 on Wild Boar and it worked just fine. I just bought some Sellier and Bellot 7.62 x 54R. It is 180 grain round nosed and should be good for bear hunting this spring.

Avoid BELL for hunting!
The quality of their bullets is crap. If you are planning on hunting with a 54R, get some Norma if you can. There is no way in good conscience I could ever endorse using the BELL loads.

Dosing: this kind of reply usually creates more questions than answers and until elaborated, I usually call BS. What specific problems have you experienced with Bell?

The analogy is quite funny.....but it does make sense to a great extent.
