Thanks for the concern, PBNJ.
Members of this forum crap all over a 'journalist' when they say "clip" instead of "magazine", and scream when an AK - 47 is called a machine gun, but folks who supposedly have studied the manual sufficiently to multi-guess a pass on the CFSC can't call a cartridge a cartridge?
One of the subconcious ways in which we assess the expertise of an individual in a particular discipline is by whether or not they use the jargon correctly. Unfriendly experts viewing this forum - and they exist, don't they officer? - correctly get the opinion that a large number of members of CGN, who are gun owners, are less than proficient. Such an opinion will be reflected in the advice they give our enemies, the gun grabbers.
Plus, when I was a working professional, it was nice to be able to discuss things of mutual interest with other professionals, correctly using the jargon of the subject at hand. To me, it would enhance the enjoyment of CGN, if everyone strove to use the correct terminology, or to admit that they know not the correct term, and make it plain they are extemporizing. Obese chance.
