I was at my local gun store this weekends and I was told that semi auto belt fed guns have no capacity limit, is this true? If so is there any sweet modern belt fed semi autos here is Canada??:50cal:

It is not true.

Belts for a firearm commonly available before 1946 have no limit. All other belts are limited to 5. As such, there are no "sweet modern" belt feds with no limit.

1919 and MG34 are available, no limit belt length.

easy if caught they take your guns, throw your @ss in jail forever, take your families money in legal fees and plaster your face all over the media as being a terrorist.

do you think its worth it?

Wether you actually did any thing wrong or not. Policy is arrest, detain, confiscate, even if you have no idea what the law is or if it's being broken, let the court sort it out.

I get that. What I mean is this. Lets say that you have 100 lengths of 5 round belts. You still have 500 rounds of belted ammo that can snap together in a second. I'm not saying the law should be ignored. I'm just amused at how incredibly stupid the law is.

there was a company i believe it was called tippman back in the day ,that made a miniture version of the browning. It was a belt fed .22lr/.22mag i believe. Being rimfire wouldn't capacity be unlimited for us canucks?? Not sure if any were ever imported here or not?? Pretty cool though somewhat useless.

The Tippman company was really big into making 22lr gatling gun replica's with huge magazines. I know that for sure. I don't know about anything belt fed though. It's possible, I know they made some pretty wild and amazing things in their shop. The firearms company took a back seat when their paintball gear took off. I know they sold the Tippman name along with all the paintball aspects of their company to a company called K2. I have no idea what became of their firearms company.

Semi-auto 1919's are a lot of fun. Not having a "mag limit" is awesome. They come up on the EE every now and then. Plan on $4k-$5K or so. You do sometimes get strange looks when you pull it (and the tripod) out and start setting it up at the range. Filling the belts can be a pain (both physically and cost wise).

Technically we should be able to get Semi-Auto Russian RPD's with no belt capacity I don't believe they are prohib but the RCMP say they were created after 1945 so belt capacity applies.

(f) is of the “belt” type consisting of a fabric or metal belt, is not a reproduction and was originally designed or manufactured for the purpose of feeding cartridges into a automatic firearm of a type that was in existence before 1945.

Technically a RPD belt would have to be allowed. The RPD was available in 1944, although it was not in mass production, according to wikipedia anyway. The RPD belt does look very similar to the MG 34/42 belt.

The ones I have seen (YouTube) were full auto, so guess that counts us out. They look awesome though.
Edit: never mind, everyone beat me to it.
