Took the rifle out today with the newly chambered barrel. I was really impressed to see that much of a change versus the factory barrel. i started testing out loads at 40.0gr of H-4895, with increments of .3 grains.

Even though my smallest group was with a low charge 40.6gr, i think i could manage to find a good charge with a medium charge by playing with the seating depth. Each grouping are 5 shot groupings

I love the fact that the throat is now back to normal and no longer long throated.

Keep in mind that it was a fairly busy day at the range so the table were really shaking (yes the tables are attached to one another so when someone shoots it shakes and get you off your aim point.)

ps. don't know what happended with group #7 probably me!

I guess, with those groups, the only thing left is to chose your prefer velocity.

Caliber and distance?

Where's your shooting range? Ruisseau noir?

It's called a "scatter node". You've inadvertently run a very nice OCW test. The nodes are at 40.6 and 42.4. If you want a robust load, choose one of the OCW nodes...

I will have to do more tests for the 40.6g node and 42.4g node. Ill try to find myself a load that will be for short distance (which i shoot often 200yards.) and try to find another load with more speed for longer distances if needed.

Next step is to load some 40.4-40.8 in .1g increments and the same for the 42.4 gr load.

Keep in mind that i havent even tried to check the best seating depth, im currently .020" off the lands.

But overall very happy with the results.

40.0 looks like it has potential. Least amount of vertical.

It might but even though i haven't cronied it. Its to low for me since its the minimum load. I have no doubt that ill be able to achieve something better with a higher charge weight and playing with the seating depth.
