Jus starting to develop a load with the 75 AMAX in my Tikka T3 Varmint .223REM. My "supply guy" only has CCI small rifle BR primers. Until now I have used nothing but the 400s with good results and no mis-fires.

Are the BR primers a decent primer for Varget powder and 75 gr bullets? Will there be much of an increase in pressure vs the 400s?

ANy info would help.

BR are better in my opinion, dont worry about differance.
but for best accuracy and consitancy forget about the A max,s go with Berger in your gun go with the 80gr or Sierra Match kings 80gr I am pretty sure your Tikka has a 1/8 twist.
Stay with Varget powder or RL 15
Berger 75gr VLD work good also

You may see a slight better accuracy but you will definitely see a price difference that will not match the possible accuracy difference. :D

Pressures should not be any different but work up as with changing any components.

The only difference I've found with BR primers; they cost more.
Do I still buy em? Hell ya!:D

Someone 'in the know' suggested a more consistent ignition using them. I'll pay the premium for consistency.

Also they're shiny, and I like shiny things.:p

In my 30BR, using H4198, (32.0 gr) CCI's out-performed every other primer I could find. Didn't concern myself with price. I'm in the entertainment business anyway.

The way it was explaned to me is that they just slow the machines down when making the BR primers. Anyone in production would agree "usually" you get a more consistant product when you slow your production down.
