I've had my MR-1 apart a few times now for cleaning, just a field stripping mind you, and I have to say that it is tricky to get all that 5hit lined up for re-assembly.

If I use my gun vise to hold the lower it is a piece of cake but I tell ya, in the field I won't be field stripping this rifle .

My AR is WAY easier to field strip and re-assemble. Just can't take it inot the bush .

The trick here is not to use the gun vise, sitting just aligne everything at an angle so the insure that the mickey ears are aligned, assure you are well in the hole for the return spring in the stock and push everything back toward the stock at an angle and firmly, it just fit easy, the first few time had to experiment but now a lot faster than my brother AR. for the gaz unit you only need a soft painting brush it is hardly dirty that rifle is almost maintenance free... Cheers. JP.

X2. Once you find the right spot the thing practically assembles itself!

I don't find it hard to re-assemble...I just put the butt on the floor and line it all up, push down till it resists, one hand on barrel, one hand on bolt...push bolt down till it resists again...

and then give it a good hard thruuuuuuuuuuuuust.

Thats the part that gave me problems the first time, have to REALLY give it a hard thrust, even if I put all my weight on it slowly it wouldnt lock into the rear.
