Hello all,
I am looking at getting a Beneli Nova to use as a turkey gun. I want a good reliable heavy pump for the job. I'll probably use it for geese as well but it's primary purpose will be turkeys.

Does anyone have any experience using the Nova or Supernova for turkeys? Pros/Cons and other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ty

It's a gun you put a turkey choke in it and pull the trigger they all do the same thing. If it's a turkey model only then the barrel will be too short for wing shooting.

^^^^ Agree.

Used to use an 870/28" VR 12 gauge with add on sights/turkey choke for turkey. Also used it for ducks/geese.

Now I use a PA-08/26" VR 20 gauge with red dot on a rib cantilever with a turkey choke. Also use it for upland birds in the fall.

A Turkey gun (22-24" barrel/factory sights or bases for red dot) would be "better" but down on the list of "guns to buy".

The Turkey doesn't know whether you are using a Turkey gun or a long barreled shotgun - if they spot you (so stay still) it doesn't really matter what you are trying to shoot them with - and the only time you get a second shot is if you are just finishing them off - so could get away with a single shot in most cases.

So far as the Nova or Supernova goes, they are one of the best slide-action shotguns on the market, the only other new guns in it's quality range is the BPS and Ithaca 37. The principle difference between the 2 is the stock, the Nova uses a 1 piece stock/action the Supernova uses an adjustable for pitch 2 piece.

I have a Nova and absolutely love it. No turkey season here in Nova Scotia but I'd imagine it would make a great turkey gun. Use mine for everything but big game it's a tank. Put it through a lot of crop and keeps on shooting.

I've shot my buddies' Nova and I recall that is was a pretty good gun. It is a one piece stock so it will either fit you or it won't, there is no adjustment.
