Hi, first post, just got back into the shooting sports after a 19 year layoff. I purchased a Benelli super nova 28" barrel. I would like to get a 18" defence barrel for this gun. Does anyone know where I could get one? Thanks for any help out there. Cheers Ross

I'm in the reverse predicament. My M4 is a great defense and "duck jumping" gun, but after just returning from Northern Sask. last week, I'd prefer a longer barrel for the big honkers.

Anybody know if the benelli bbls will fit the M4? I'd like at least a 28"
Some say the choke is the determing factor longer range, not bbl. Comments?

Nope, the Benelli M4 barrels are specific to the gun. The only 2 barrels that exist (from the factory) are the 14" breacher barrel, and the 18.5" normal barrel.

Even if you could though, a new M4 barrel is over 900 dollars in the USA, dont even want to know how much they'd be in Canada! :O

As for Chokes, the M4 uses the same ones as the other M-series, so Brownells should carry them. Chokes do a LOT for changing the shot patterns though.

Going from an Modified choke to a Skeet/Open choke was like turning auto-aim on doing skeet shooting! :D went from hitting maybe 50% to over 95% of the clays I was shooting at.

Thanks, Raptor. I bought some Carlsons chokes, and was hitting the honkers over decoys at 45 yds at least. 3" steelshot was easy to handle for sure. (The geese didn't seem to like it :) ) I just got a note from Benelli USA stating the same as Raptor....no bbl available. Oh well, maybe another shotgun for pass shooting? Hmmmmmm

I ended up buying another Benelli tactical shotgun with 18" or 18.5" barrell. The barrells are pretty expensive by themselves. Cheers
