Is anyone out there using the Codoba or Super Sporting for clay targets or hunting? I shoot a Beretta S686 Special Sporting but would like a back up gun for Sporting and maybe a little hunting now and then. Presently using an old 1100 Skeet gun but it jams a lot with target loads. Like the 1100 and 11/87, just wondering if time to move to somthing else. Thoughts?

i use a SuperSport 28" for Trap/Skeet

i don't hunt /w it as other have mentioned the shiney stainless reciever is probably a dead give away....

but for a sporting gun it is great, and a lot cleaner than the gas system semis

is there anything you wanted to know in particular?

The Cordoba is all black and would be my choice. I understand it has the same action as the Super Sport. Do you shoot 1oz loads in yours? In your area what kind of auto is the most popular? What kind of price range do these Benellis run in. Thanks for your response.

yeah the cordoba is all black... (black reciever and black ext. chokes)
other than that its the same as far as i can tell and from reading

i used to shoot 1-1/8oz loads, but have recently started shooting 1oz loads of no.8 and no.9s.. and see no difference in performance....

actually semi's are not popular as i'm one of 3 or 4 guys at the club that use them, more guys /w 870s (but O/Us are the most popular).....

1 benelli (mines), another fellow /w an Beretta AL391 variant (can't remember which one), and 2 guys /w Browning Golds (something)

umm i think i was one of the few that pre-ordered the SuperSports after seeing pics posted from the SHOT Show in '04.. back then i think after taxes (GST) my SS came in at about $27xx

I'm using a Beretta 391 with a 30" barrrel for back up clays and for waterfowl. It is 100 per cent reliable with light loads right down to 7/8s at 1200 fps. It's also very soft shooting. The downside is when it needs to be cleaned every 1200 to 1500 rounds getting the plastic build up out of the gas system is a bit of a chore.

I've shot the Super Sport and liked it but wouldn't take that shiny receiver into a duck blind. The Cordoba interests me but that barrel porting is something that might not go over that well in a duck blind. The Cordoba without the porting would be a very hard shotgun to resist.
