This barrel is from a 1987 Benelli Montefeltro. I'm not sure if it is original to the shotgun or not. Is 24" long, appears to be cylinder/unrestricted, and has external threads. I've personally not seen that on a Benelli. I have seen such on earlier Fabarm pump shotguns. Also appears to be 2 3/4" only, also unusual for the year. Does anyone have any idea what its intended purpose was? Some sort of skeet barrel? Cheers

Appears to be a thread cover. Thread protector for external chokes. They do exist. Gemini external chokes for Benelli 12ga for instance.
They come in lengths from 70mm, 120mm and 200mm in several common constrictions.

Thanks for the Gemini name; that helps with Google, was striking out without.

Always happy to help. Been down this road with these as well.
They also make a rifled choke 105mm in length.
You can order these chokes from the Fiera Shop s.r.l. in Badia, Italy.

I've got another barrel coming that takes internal chokes; if it's actually for this year of Monte, will likely set this aside.
