I just returned from a tough snow goose hunt and went to strip down my shotgun to give it a good thorough cleaning. According to the manufacturer, the charging handle should just pull straight out 90 degrees to the bore to allow the bolt to slide free of the reciever, but for the life of me I cannot get the bloody thing to come free. Is there some trick to get this thing off? I really don't want to take a pair of visegrips to it bit I've tried several times and it clearly will not budge.

Thanks

It's held in by a detent ball and spring. Try pushing in and pulling out on it a few times to loosen it. It should pull straight out.

You can wrap a rag around it to protect it if you need to use the Vice Grips. It will come out eventually.
