Since Benelli will probably never make a longer single bead bbl. for my M4, I'm thinking about buying one of these, so I'm wondering who here has tried both and which do you prefer.

From my research, the only differences are 3" vs. 3.5" and the SBE receiver splits for easier cleaning, correct?
Am I missing any other vital differences that constitute a $500+ price difference? I actually prefer the look of the M2.

Thanks for any info.

No difference other than those you've already noted (trigger guard design is a bit different). Personally, I also prefer the M2.....had an SBE II + 2 M2s (Wood and Synthetic).

Regrettably, I should've retained at least the black M2, however, I find that I am unable to hold on to a semi or pump for a longer period of time.

Tagged for interest.

All I can tell is the differences you have mentioned. I would also like to know if moving up to the 3.5" shell is worth it.

IMHO, shooting skills (and not shooting prowess) could be just as easily demonstrated using a 3in cartridge. ;)

Thanks. The trigger guard is actually my main gripe with the SBE.
I would never shoot 3.5" so it's beginning to look like an M2.

My understanding is the back part of the bbl. on the SBE makes up the top of the receiver? So when you remove the bbl, you could look into the receiver?
