When I first got the gun it wouldnt even come out. Now seems every time I shoot it I find the charge handle laying on the ground. Today I almost drove over it in the snow. It happened with the original handle and now I have a S&J oversize and its happening to that too.

It locks into place. I can feel it snap in. It just dont stay in. I wonder if the handle is rotating and popping the detent.. Maybe I should put a bit of real good RTV silicone on the outside of the handle just where it meets the surface of the bolt. Just so it cant turn. I really dont want to send the gun away.

I'd say either the s&j is out of spec and too long or your detent is defective. Could have just been bad luck with the factory handle rotating just right popping out but I doubt it. You've gotta really pull to release either the GG&G or the factory handle on mine.

Well I just cleaned the whole bolt. The detent has lots of pressure on it. Not sure how far the detent should extend into the pin bore though. Its definatly only in a ways. If someone has a picture of theres would be awesome. Both the original and S&J bolt require about the same amount of pressure to twist and remove. I can hang the gun by the charge handle and shake it and it wont come out.

Here's a pic of my detent and one with my GG&G CH installed to show how it sits. Never had a problem with this one jumping out.

I just took some extreme closeup pictures of the detent grooves of the charge handles. It appears that the new one I received from S&J may not be new. It has a lot of extreme bash marks on the edges. It has only fired 15 rounds. Compared to the original thats had perhaps a couple hundred rounds and its only got tiny markings on the edge in one spot. Also when the original is inserted fully into the bolt I can still squeeze it in further. The S&J is bottomed hard so I am thinking maybe its not going in far enough. I guess I need to contact S&J and see what they say. The original actually only fell out 1 time, but it was the last time I used it. So I am thinking it was just a coincidence. Also last time it was fired was by a friend so I cant say he knew how to operate the charge handle.

The s&j cch is the same cut out as factory.
We have an optical comparator and a 3D scanner it's within .00001 of an inch.
We have also sold around 2500 of these .and have made 6 o 7 that have had this ISSUE
We have tanKen that s&J cch and uses it in other m4 with no issue.
Even benelli can be out of spec.
An iasue is sometimes dirt of metal flakes in the dedent

Are there any marks on your receiver, along the channel/slot that the charging handle travels in?
If its making contact there, it will pop it out of the detent and will come out of the bolt.

May explain some of the bash marks you are seeing.
Doesn't make sense that the factory handle would be doing this though.

The above are the new S&J charge handle and below are the original Benelli. Even lloks like vise mark serations on the S&J between the grooves.

Kind of an old post to reply; but that S&J looks to have gone through a ton of wear. Looks IMHO to be improperly heat treated (soft) steel. Its no wonder it was coming out too easily.
