Does anybody have any experienced using an improved cylinder choke in the 18.5" M4?

My 870 Police comes with a factory improved cylinder barrel and there is no doubt it shoots tighter with slugs and buckshot (and all shot I’m sure) when compared to the other 870 models.

My factory BM4 barrel is obviously amazing and a winner with slugs/shot, but I wonder if it would become better still by moving to the imp cyl.

Thanks!

Which m4 do you have? The 14" or the 18.5"?

The 14" is not threaded for chokes, the 18.5" comes from the factory with a MOD choke.

Compared to almost every other shotgun I have come across my m4 patterns tighter (as for if this is a good thing, ... ? depends on the application)

You’re telling me that the 14" is not threaded for chokes, and I mentioned that I was curious about an imp cyl choke, so that would make my gun an 18.5", no? :p
I changed my original post.

So the factory insert is modified cylinder choke? I unscrewed it and it I’m sure it’s cyl bore. There are no markings on it to tell me.

Wow yes it does have the three small stars. So hard to see under the oil. It also has the three notches in the edge (nice).

So these stars = Modified, which is tighter than Improved, which should equal tighter groups with slugs/shot, right?

Thanks Puma! I knew this thing was a beast but never figured to check the factory choke.

Do you find the modified choke fouls up a bit more?

Interesting! I figured that with the choke it would catch a little more lead. Good to know!
